Do you guys remember Kesha? Tik Tok? We R Who We R? A bunch of glitter and a great "I don't give an F attitude?" Well, if you are wondering why we haven't heard from her in a while, it's because she has been stuck in a legal battle with her recording company.
She has been trying to get out of her exclusive contract with producer Dr. Luke, who she claims physically and verbally abused her. But last week, the judge denied her legal plea to get out of this contract.
So basically, if she wants to continue to make music, she is going to have to continue to work with the man who abused her. HOW DOES THAT MAKE SENSE? CAN SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN THAT TO ME?
Abuse is a sad reality in this country. And too often, woman are afraid to come forward and report their abusers. But why would they, if this is how they are going to be treated? Kesha was not only brave enough to report the abuse, but she did so with the world watching. And then, the court told her there was really nothing they could do about it.
So many strong woman have come forward and show their support for Kesha, and I think this is amazing. They only way we are going to change things is by supporting one another. I know Kesha doesn't know me, and definitely doesn't care about my opinion on the matter, but I just want to take this opportunity to say that I am in full support of the #freekesha movement. So, I did the only thing I knew how - I made a cake - a "Tik Tok" inspired Free Kesha cake.
